Who We Are

The Olathe Chapter, Inc., National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR or NSDAR), is part of a national, non-political volunteer organization founded in 1890. Our members are a community of women of all ages who share a deep appreciation for our country’s history and a commitment to giving back.

Whether through preserving historic sites, supporting local schools, or honoring our nation’s veterans, our mission is to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism in our community.

What We Do

Our members volunteer their time and talents in many ways to carry forward DAR’s three core missions:

Historic Preservation of a grave
Education award ceremony
Veterans returning from Honor Flight

Historic Preservation

We help keep history alive through projects that protect and share Olathe’s rich heritage, including helping to maintain historic sites, supporting local museums, and preserving community landmarks.

Education

We invest in the next generation by supporting scholarships, promoting literacy, and recognizing outstanding students and teachers in our schools.

Patriotism

We proudly honor our nation’s veterans and active-duty military. We participate in Wreaths Across America,  help welcome Honor Flight veterans, support the Leavenworth VA, and proudly place flags at National Cemeteries. We also promote respect for our nation’s symbols and values.
